Hector “Macho” Camacho
tops the card to be held on Friday, December
5, at the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino
HOLLYWOOD, FL - (November 18, 2003) Professional
boxing continues at the Seminole Tribe of Florida's
Coconut Creek Casino with an exciting lineup
of bouts. The card features five-time world
champion Hector "Macho" Camacho, former cruiserweight
world champion Robert "The Preacher Man" Daniels, Friday "The 13th" Ahunanya, Ramon Garbey, Derrell "Too
Sweet" Coley, Ricky "Showtime" Quiles, Celestino
Caballero and Joe Johnson.
The card, to be held at The Seminole Coconut
Creek Casino will take place Friday, December
5, and will consist of eight bouts.
Hector "Macho" Camacho
(76-5-3, 37 KOs) of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, will square off against Craig Houk (68-35, 18 KOs) in a middleweight special attraction.
Camacho, a five-time world champion, is fighting
for the third time in 2003. Camacho's career, spanning three decades, includes wins over
Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, Greg Haugen, Vinnie Pazienza, Howard Davis, Ray Mancini, and Edwin Rosario. Camacho's losses have
been to Greg Haugen, Julio Cesar Chavez, Felix Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya.
The undercard features
former cruiserweight world champion Robert "The Preacher Man" Daniels, (45-5-1, 37 KOs), taking on Panamanian Guillermo
Jones (29-2-2, 22 KOs) in a12-round bout for
the North American Boxing Organization cruiserweight
championship. Daniels, the longtime cruiserweight, captured the World Boxing Association belt
in 1989 with a 12-round decision over Dwight
Qawi. Daniels defended the WBA title two times
before losing to Bobby Czyz in 1991. Daniels
currently is coming off a fifth round TKO victory
over Alex Gonzalez in May to capture the vacant
International Boxing Association super cruiserweight
championship.
International Boxing Federation
No. six-rated middleweight Derrell "Too Sweet" Coley
(38-2-2, 27 KOs ) of Capitol Heights, Maryland, is featured on the undercard. Coley, the
former North American Boxing Federation welterweight
champion is fighting for the third time in
2003. He currently is coming off a fourth-round
TKO victory of Benji Singleton in August.
In heavyweight action, Nigerian contender Friday "The 13th" Ahunanya
(19-1-1, 10 KOs) is taking on Thomas Williams
(28-15, 19 KOs) of Washington, D.C., in a
10-round bout. In his most recent effort, Ahunanya won a 10-round decision over Onebo
Maxine-Ghahou on August 23.
After a two year hiatus, Ramon Garbey (16-3, 13 KOs) of Miami, Florida is back in action
taking on Armando Rodriguez 27-10-1, 23 KOs)
of Caracas, Venezuela in an eight-round cruiserweight
bout. Garbey, originally from Cuba owns knockout
victories over Saul Montana and Ezra Sellers.
Two of his three losses have been decisions
at the hands of Frez Oquendo and James Toney.
In other action, Puerto
Rican native, Ricky "Showtime" Quiles
(33-6-3, 8 KOs ) is fighting for the first
time since being decisioned by Terrance Cauthen
in August. Celestino Caballero (18-1, 14 KOs)
of Colon, Panama, is making his Seminole Warriors Boxing
Promotions debut in a 12-round super bantamweight
bout for the North American Boxing Association
championship. Local heavyweight, Joe Johnson
(6-3, 5 KOs) of Miami, Florida is taking on
Chad Butler (4-1. 4 KOs) of New Brunswick, New Jersey, in a six round heavyweight bout.
Tickets for "Macho Time at the Creek", priced at $30 general admission, $100, $125
