Seminole Warriors Boxing PRESENTS THE FIRST OF 12 EVENTS IN 2004

"NIGHT OF THE HEAVYWEIGHTS"

Two-time heavyweight world champion Michael Moorer kicks off 2004 as the main event at the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino Saturday, January 17

HOLLYWOOD , FL - ( December 22, 2003 ) Professional boxing kicks off 2004 at the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Coconut Creek Casino with an exciting lineup of bouts.  The card features two-time heavyweight world champion Michael Moorer and North American Boxing Federation heavyweight champion Elieser Castillo.

The card, to be held at The Seminole Coconut Creek Casino will take place Saturday, January 17, and will consist of six bouts.

Michael Moorer (45-3-1, 35 KOs ) is the main event of the evening.  Moorer, the former light heavyweight champion of the world and former two-time heavyweight champion of the world fought twice in 2003 and plans on keeping busy in 2004.  Moorer is targeting the top ten in the heavyweight division in an effort to win the heavyweight championship of the world for the third time.  Moorer defeated Evander Holyfield in April 1994 to capture the World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation heavyweight championships.  Moorer lost the WBA and IBF titles to George Foreman in a stunning upset in November 1994.  Two years later, Moorer defeated Axel Schulz in 1996 to reclaim the IBF heavyweight title.  Moorer is coming off a first round KO victory over Rogerio Lobo in October.  Moorer is taking on Jose Da-Silva (24-4, 19 KOs) of Sao-Paulo , Brazil .

The undercard features NABF champion Elieser Castillo ( 24-3-2 , 13 KOs) defending his heavyweight belt against Davarryl Williamson (18-2, 16 KOs ).  Castillo, who defected to the United States from Cuba in the early 90's, has steadily climbed the heavyweight ladder since his pro debut in 1996.  Castillo owns knockout victories over Andre Purlette in 2001 and Lawrence Cley-Bey in June.  In his most recent effort, Castillo defeated Corey Sanders in October.  Castillo holds the World Boxing Council No. 14 world rating.

International Boxing Federation No. nine rated super middleweight Tito "El Misil" Mendoza (29-4, 22 KOs ) is fighting for the fourth time in the super middleweight division.  Mendoza is defending his WBC Latin Americas title against Etienne Whitaker ( 29-11-2 , 18 KOs) of Warren , Ohio .  A proud native of Panama , the 6'3 Mendoza is eager to continue his campaign in the super middleweight division.  He currently is coming off a first round KO victory of Ronnie Johnson in October.

In other action, newly crowned North American Boxing Organization cruiserweight champion, Jermell Barnes, is fighting for the second time at Coconut Creek.  Barnes (16-3, 4 KOs ) pulled an upset by decisioning former world champion Robert "Preacherman" Daniels for the vacant NABO title in December.  Barnes is taking on Ramon Garbey.  After a two-year hiatus, Garbey (16-3, 13 KOs) of Miami , Florida is back in action. Garbey, originally from Cuba owns knockout victories over Saul Montana and Ezra Sellers.  Two of his three losses have been decisions at the hands of Frez Oquendo and James Toney.

Daniel Judah (18-0-2, 8 KOs) of Brooklyn, New York will square off against Tiwon Taylor ( 24-10-1 , 18 KOs) of Las Vegas in a light heavyweight bout. Judah is the brother of junior welterweight champion Zab Judah.  Like his brother Zab, Daniel is a southpaw and is trained by his father Yoel.   In his most recent outing Judah defeated Shannon Miller by first round TKO in October.

Exciting young new heavyweight prospects Kendrick Releford ( 8-3-1 , 5 KOs) of Fort Worth , TX and Chad Butler (4-1, 4 KOs) of New Brunswick , NJ clash in a six round bout.
